Standing on the shore of Loch Tay near Kenmore, I was completely immersed in the Blue Hour.
There was almost no wind (which is unusual in Scotland), and the water lay before me like a sheet of flawless glass. I felt an incredible sense of deep, silent calm.
As the light faded, the sky began its drama. The clouds, racing overhead, provided a spectacular display, opening up just enough to reveal beautiful hues of deep blue, purple, and soft orange on the horizon. My aim was to convey that striking motion of the sky—the reason I call this piece Sky in Motion—against the absolute stillness of the loch below.
The long exposure I used not only blurred the clouds into streaks of colour but also turned the water into a perfect mirror. This created those perfect silhouettes: the small isle of trees stood dark and sharp, while the distant glow of town lights cast a magical, subtle warmth across the dark landscape. This moment, where motion met stillness, was a masterclass in contrasts and left me in awe.
Bring this striking drama into your space. This print is an intensely atmospheric and moody piece of art, perfect for adding depth and sophistication to a living room, dining room, or any space that benefits from a powerful, contemplative focal point.
