There are times, as a photographer, when I put the camera down, pause the timer, and just find myself staring.
This moment at Loch Earn near St Fillians was one of them. The world was so incredibly quiet. The mountains framed the loch like the entrance to a secret glen (valley), and the last of the sunset was bleeding across the sky in soft shades of gold, lavender, and blue.
I used a long exposure to smooth the water to glass, but even as I was setting up, I was simply trying to hold onto the feeling. It was that fleeting, perfect calm that you know can't last—the light will change, the wind will pick up, the moment will vanish. My only thought was a simple, selfish wish: to make this perfect stillness last forever. This photograph is my attempt to capture that exact feeling and keep it alive.
Bring this stillness into your space. This print is about peace and reflection, perfect for any room where you want to pause, breathe, and let the quiet beauty of a Scottish loch wash over you.
